To participate in Q-RIDE TRAINING AND ASSESMENT COURSE, as a minimum, you must hold a current car licence and have held that for a year. You can then do the Qride Pre Learner course so you can ride a  RE motorbike learner licence.

Once you have held your Learner licence for 3 months you can return and upgrade so you can ride your RE Lams motorcycle by yourself.

If you wish to obtain a class R MOTORCYCLE LICENSE, you must have held a class RE PROVISIONAL OR OPEN LICENSE for at least 2 years.

Choose a Qride trainer
Choose a  local motorcycle school to  provide your Q-Ride training and assessment.

Enrol in your qride course
Contact your Qride Mackay  service provider to enrol. The service provider will ask you to provide some information about your licence history to determine which class of motorbike you are eligible to learn to ride. For example, if you want to learn to ride a class R motorbike, you may need to know the date on which your class RE provisional or open licence was first issued.

Learn to ride
Q-Ride training and assessment
consists of a number of competency standards that your trainer will take you through.

When learning to ride a motorbike you must display an L-plate and carry your class RE learner, provisional or open licence. Your licence must be shown to a police officer or any other authorised person if you are asked to do so.

Certificate of competency
When you have demonstrated you are competent in all of the Q-Ride competencies, the Q-Ride registered service provider will issue you with a competency declaration (Q-Ride Certificate).

Getting your licence
Before you can ride unaccompanied on your motorbike, you must take your current licence and Q-Ride Certificate to a Department of Transport and Main Roads customer service centre to apply for your motorbike licence. Although you will not be required to do a practical driving test, you must be eligible for the licence you are applying for.
